The Story of Midnight All Year
Hello, I'm Amy, and this is the story of how we began.
I started Midnight All Year as a single mom living in central Pennsylvania. Before that, I left my career designing clothes in New York City to raise my three kids.
Immersed in the constant overwhelm of full-time work and parenting, I missed NYC and designing. And I realized through every life shift, my love for wearing unique, functional, black cotton garments never changed. Whether I was managing work, kid duties, and errands, or rushing through the city in my past life, I wanted clothes that were comfortable and durable, but also dramatic enough to help me feel like myself. I basically needed a closet full of casual tees Morticia Addams could throw on with jeans.
I discovered it was just as hard to find those pieces online in reclusive motherhood as it had been when I combed through boutiques. So I decided to build my own line, one piece at a time. I researched the best American-made fabrics, and found brave factories in NYC open during the pandemic and willing to take tiny orders from an unknown brand.
It wasn’t easy. With rare spare hours and limited funds, what I hoped to launch in a year took five, full of setbacks and delays. As my kids neared college, I lost sleep wondering if I’d made a mistake, but every step brought me closer to the vision.
Working hands-on with ethical, diverse, and women-owned American factories and suppliers to create a superior product is very rewarding. Today my kids help me run our small family business. As we grow, our mission is to support our hometown of Milton, Pennsylvania, and bring joy to every customer who wears our clothes.
Thank you for being here. We hope you find something you love that stays with you for the seasons of your own story.
